We are now getting got fleets of around 11 boats competing each week, making it very competitive racing and skippers need to be on the ball as one mistake can result in a loss of several places.
. It also means that the rounding marks become quite crowded and the many rules that apply come into play. The fleet did well at the downwind marks and the boats heading upwind on port gave way to those running downwind on starboard, well done skippers.
The windward separation was a little more troublesome as it was a long way from the bank, due to an increasing problem of the spreading weed growth and very hard to determine your position when rounding, so many incidents and missed buoys occurred.
Phil R #32 consistently finished near the front today to take 1st place ahead of Colin Mc #735 who is improving with every race, in 2nd and Peter B #818 did really well as the first of the back markers home in 3rd.
He was followed by John K #29, Grant T #38 and Rob F #40 in 4th to 6th.
Then came Brian H #45, Lew C #435, Les B #652, Peter T #34 and Gary E #83 who had some servo problems.
