We had a steady ESE breeze for the 9 starters in the 13th champ race today.
Unfortunately, with the wind from that direction there was a lot of suspended weed drifting directly down the course. There were plenty of occasions where the leading boats were slowed severely or just enough to lose several places. If back in the fleet a little there was no chance of making up ground.
When the weed wasn’t an issue the racing was very close and we had 7 different winners today.
Les B #652 had very good boat speed today and kept the errors to a minimum to come away with a well deserved win.
Two points back in 2nd and another one point in 3rd were Peter B #818 and Murray D #18, both sailed consistently and if not for weed the first 3 places could have been a tie.
They were followed by Grant T #38, Brian H #45, Lew C #435, Brian R #31, Peter T #34 and Phil R #145 who missed the last half of racing with a torn sail.
